Protein is found in a large variety of food easily available to us. In other words, it is not difficult to make sure we are getting enough protein daily that our body and our hair needs to thrive.
A typical meal for me would be a cup of cooked quinoa (a super food known for it’s easily digestible and very high protein content) or a cup of cooked brown rice (which has about 6 grams of protein per cup) with either a piece of chicken, turkey or salmon (also packed with protein) and some side vegetable (to give my body the vitamins and minerals it needs to build up my immune system, and to keep my body healthy for amazing hair growth)
This meal has a healthy amount of protein and almost my bodies daily needs of protein for the day. If I eat some mixed nuts through out the day and I start off my day with some eggs for breakfast, my body will be very happy and thankful that it got it’s daily amount of protein for the day.
Please keep in mind that our bodies need protein, but they also need other vitamins and minerals to keep our bodies healthy, which in turns provides an ideal environment to get maximum hair growth.

Hair oils are one of the most underrated beauty regimens that we tend to neglect. Sure, we can buy tons of products that claim to help our thinning hair…when all you really need are a few drops of pure oil. Since some shampoos and conditioners are formulated with alcohol and synthetic ingredients which essentially dry out our hair, oils are your best bet for hair growth. Unlike most hair care products which simply coat the surface of the hair follicle, essential oils penetrate from the root and nourish it from the inside. Thus, preventing breakage and strengthening the hair follicle. Adding these 7 natural oils into your hair care regimen will not only promote a healthy scalp but also reduce hair loss and add more volume. These oils have been scientifically proven to help improve alopecia, so why not give them a go?!
Rosemary Oil
First up is the oil that I swear by, rosemary oil belongs to the mint family and contains a high antioxidant activity which stimulates hair follicles to reverse hair loss. It’s been my absolute go-to for my alopecia areata and traction alopecia to promote growth from the nerve for stronger, thicker hair regrowth. The best way to use rosemary essential oil is to massage 5 drops into your scalp after showering. You can mix it in with a carrier oil such as jojoba oil or olive oil. Rinse it out overnight, however allowing the oil to sit on your scalp for longer will penetrate effectively.
Peppermint Oil
One of the most effective oils to stimulate blood circulation on the scalp is peppermint oil. The main component menthol helps to promote a healthy amount of blood supply to the scalp to heal and prevent breakage leading to hair loss. Take a few drops of peppermint oil and mix it in with a carrier oil such as jojoba or castor oil. The oil can also be mixed into your shampoo or treatment mask to speed up hair growth and greatly reduce hair fall.
Ylang-Ylang Oil
If your hair tends to break off due to an excessively dry scalp, ylang ylang essential oil could be what you’re looking for. It aids as a natural conditioning agent to increase sebum production. As a result, conditioned hair prevents split ends and hair loss. For a hot oil hair treatment, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 5 drops of ylang ylang oil. Heat the mixture and massage it into your scalp, wrap up your hair in a towel to keep your follicles warm for scalp penetration. After 30 minutes you can rinse off the oil or leave it on overnight. For best results repeat once a week.
Carrot Seed Oil
An oil that doesn’t get enough recognition for hair growth is carrot seed oil. With its high level of beta-carotene, it strengthens weak hair and promotes a healthy scalp. Beta-carotene converts into Vitamin A which can eliminate breakage completely. To concoct a hair growth treatment, mix 5 drops of carrot oil, 2 tablespoons of pumpkin seed oil, 2 tablespoons of castor oil with 2 tablespoons of coconut oil. Massage this heated blend onto the scalp and leave it on for about an hour. You can rinse the oil or leave it on overnight. Repeat once a week to get the best results.
Jojoba Oil
This light, non-greasy carrier oil has an amazing ability to condition the scalp without leaving any residue behind. Aside from essential oils, jojoba oil is similar to natural hair sebum. It’s high in monounsaturated fatty acids, Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, and E which all help to strengthen hair follicles. You can apply the oil directly to your scalp, warming it up beforehand will allow an even application. It can be used all over the hair from the root to the ends. Leave it on for 30 minutes or overnight for improved results.
Grapeseed Oil
Similar to jojoba oil, it’s rich in Vitamin E and linoleic acid to help to reduce dandruff and dermatitis. The non-greasy, lightweight oil is completely odorless if you’re sensitive to scents. Its consistency is similar to our natural hair sebum so it doesn’t interfere with the scalp’s natural oil production. It’s a great stand-alone oil, apply it directly to the scalp and ends without any fuss of mixing in other oils. Using it regularly with your haircare routine after a shower allows the extract to sink into the scalp effectively.
Black Jamaican Castor Oil
Castor oil is a dense oil with a unique composition of a triglyceride of fatty acids with riconleic acid. However, black Jamaican castor oil is processed with fewer chemicals by roasting beans instead of cold-pressed castor oil. This dark brown oil has a thick consistency to prevent hair fall and treat split ends. It should be used with another lightweight oil such as jojoba or extra-virgin olive oil since the thick oil can be a little difficult to evenly apply on the scalp. Mix equal parts of both oils and warm it before applying it onto the scalp to improve blood circulation and help regrow hair. For an all-around blend that contains holistic oils, our Hair Stimulating Oil Blend is rich in some of the mentioned oils to improve the overall health and growth of your hair. These oils have a vast array of emollient properties to condition and soften the hair overnight. Using these essential and carrier oils all in one convenient blend can give your hair life and full body without going to the salon. Keep these oils a regular part of your weekly haircare routine and watch your hair look more luscious and voluminous than ever!
